Senior Backend Python Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a distributed team building and maintaining scalable backend services and cloud-based applications.

The role is fully remote and requires strong backend engineering fundamentals, solid database knowledge, and hands-on experience working with AWS services.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain REST APIs using Python and FastAPI

• Develop scalable backend services and integrations with internal and third-party systems

• Work with PostgreSQL, writing efficient SQL queries and designing reliable data models

• Deploy and maintain applications on AWS using services such as Lambda, ECR, API Gateway, S3, and CloudFront

• Build and maintain serverless workflows and cloud-based backend services

• Package and manage containerized applications and images using Docker and Amazon ECR

• Configure and maintain API endpoints through AWS API Gateway

• Work with S3 and CloudFront for storage and distribution of application assets when needed

• Implement authentication, error handling, logging, monitoring, and security best practices

• Write unit and integration tests to ensure application quality and reliability

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices

• Collaborate with distributed engineering and product teams to solve technical problems

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience

• Strong professional experience with Python

• Hands-on experience building production applications using FastAPI

• Advanced English communication skills

• Strong experience with PostgreSQL, SQL, relational database design, and performance optimization

• Proven experience designing and maintaining REST APIs

• Hands-on experience with AWS, especially:

  • AWS Lambda

  • Amazon ECR

  • API Gateway

  • Amazon S3

  • CloudFront

• Experience with Docker and containerized applications

• Good understanding of cloud architectures, including serverless applications

• Strong knowledge of API integrations, authentication, error handling, and debugging

• Experience writing automated unit and integration tests

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices

• Experience working with Git-based development workflows

• Comfortable working in a distributed remote team

Nice to have

• Experience with infrastructure as code

• Experience with AWS monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch

• Experience with asynchronous processing or event-driven architectures

• Familiarity with frontend deployment flows using S3 and CloudFront

• Experience working in enterprise or high-scale environments
