FAQ
Everything you wanted to ask
Short, honest answers about how Vetted works. If we missed something, write us at the bottom of the page.
Getting started
What Vetted is and how to get on the platform.
What is Vetted?
Vetted is a talent platform for hand-picked engineers, designers, and operators. We do the vetting once, then connect you to roles from companies that already trust our process.
For candidates, that means one careful evaluation instead of running the same interview gauntlet at five different companies. For companies, it means a shortlist of people we've actually spent time with.
Is there a cost to apply?
No. The platform is free for candidates. We get paid by the companies who hire through us, never by you.
How long does the application take?
About 5 minutes. You'll upload your CV, our AI reads it and pre-fills your profile, and you fill in the gaps. After that, you're into the vetting flow at your own pace.
Do I need to be senior or based in a specific country?
We work with people across seniority levels and geographies. Most of our roles are remote-friendly. If your skills line up with what our clients are hiring for, you're a fit.
The vetting process
What happens after you apply, and how we decide who's a fit.
What does vetting actually look like?
There are four steps. You move at your own pace.
- Profile. CV, skills, salary expectations, availability.
- Intro video. A short recording so our team and clients hear how you talk about your work.
- Behavioral assessment. About 20 minutes. Self-rating questions plus a set of situational scenarios.
- Admin review. Our team looks at everything together and makes the call.
How long does it take from start to fully vetted?
If you do the work in one sitting, the candidate-side steps take about 30 to 45 minutes. After you submit, our team usually gets back to you within a few business days.
What if you ask me to redo a stage?
Sometimes the intro video or the behavioral assessment doesn't give us enough signal, and we ask for a second take. That's not a rejection. It's a chance to show us a different angle. You'll get specific feedback on what to focus on.
What happens if I'm not approved?
We'll tell you why, and you can reapply after six months. We keep the door open because skills, experience, and timing change.
Matching with companies
How we surface roles and what happens when one comes up.
Do I need to apply to every role separately?
No. Once you're in the database, we match you with roles that fit your profile. You'll get an email when there's a match, with the role details, the offered rate, and a link to confirm or decline.
Can I see which company is hiring before I confirm?
Not in the first email. We share the role details (seniority, scope, rate, contract type) without naming the company up front. Once you confirm interest and the company invites you to talk, you'll see who they are.
What if the rate or start date doesn't work for me?
You can counter on the match-confirm page. Update the rate or how soon you can start, add a short note, and we'll review it with the company. No back-and-forth email threads needed.
Can I decline a match without burning the relationship?
Yes. Hit decline, optionally tell us why. Your profile stays active and you'll keep getting matched with future roles. We'd rather you say no to one role than force a bad fit.
The referral program
Know someone we should meet? You can recommend them and we'll thank you for it.
How do referrals work?
Two paths:
- When you decline a match, we offer a quick form to recommend someone else for that role. We email them a personalized invite and link the referral back to you automatically.
- From your Referrals page, you get a personal link you can share with anyone. Anyone who joins through it is credited to you.
How much do you pay for a successful referral?
We pay $300 per successful referral. A successful referral is one where the person you recommended goes through our process and gets hired by a client.
Important: we only pay after the person is hired and starts working. Not when they apply, not when they're vetted, not when they're shortlisted. Hired and active.
When and how do I get paid?
Once your referral is hired and starts working, we contact you to get your payment details, pay you, and mark the referral as paid. Tracking lives on your Referrals page so you can see what's pending and what's already paid.
Is there a cap on referrals?
No cap. If you send us five great people and all five get hired, you get paid five times. We want more good people, not fewer.
What counts as a 'good' referral?
Someone you've actually worked with or know well, not a random LinkedIn contact. We check every recommendation, so quality beats quantity. Five thoughtful intros is much better than fifty cold ones.
Privacy and your data
What we keep, what we share, and how to delete your profile.
Who sees my profile and CV?
Our internal team, always. Companies see your profile only after we put you in front of them for a specific role, and they never see your name, email, salary expectations, or contact details unless you accept the match. They see your skills, experience, assessment results, and a code (something like VTD-X42K9).
Can I delete my account?
Yes, from Settings. Deletion is immediate and irreversible: your profile, CV, intro videos, and assessment answers are wiped right away.
Will you spam me?
No. You'll get an email when there's a match for you, and occasionally a reminder if you start a stage and don't finish. Both can be paused from your settings.
Where can I read the full legal docs?
Our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy cover everything in plain English.
