About this role
About the Role
This is a hands-on leadership role for an Engineering Lead to own the technical direction across two connected products: a Python service on AWS (API + LLM) that uses large language models to gather and organize information, and a TypeScript/Node application (API + UI) that builds on that output, and supports several of the company's downstream products.
Rather than owning a single codebase, you'll bridge architecture decisions across both products, own the overall AWS posture and security (ECS Fargate, Amazon Bedrock, IAM), review work landing in either codebase, and mentor the Full Stack Engineers. This is a breadth-first, architecture-focused role — ideal for someone who thrives connecting systems across stacks rather than going deep in just one.
What you'll do
Own architecture decisions and integration strategy across products.
Provide technical oversight and lead code reviews for work landing in either codebase.
Communicate clearly and effectively with multiple stakeholders across engineering, product, design, and client teams, keeping everyone aligned on goals and progress.
Own the AWS architecture and security posture, including ECS Fargate, Amazon Bedrock integration, and IAM.
Guide the StandardsAI API service (Python, FastAPI, ECS Fargate, REST and static frontend) and its LLM integration via Amazon Bedrock.
Partner with the DataEngineer on data strategy across PostgreSQL and Snowflake.
Ensure performance, reliability, and security best practices are applied throughout both stacks.
Support and mentor the Full Stack Engineers across both products, helping improve processes and code quality.
What we're looking for
Proven experience as an Engineering Lead, Tech Lead, or Engineering Manager owning architecture across multiple products or codebases.
Strong experience with TypeScript, Node.js, React, Vite, Tailwind CSS, and Python (FastAPI).
Deep understanding of AWS architecture and security, including ECS Fargate and IAM.
Experience integrating LLM services (Amazon Bedrock or similar) into production applications.
Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL). Familiarity with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake.
Experience integrating third-party tools and identity providers (SSO, Okta, etc.).
Excellent problem-solving skills, with proven experience communicating and collaborating across multiple stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and make thoughtful technical decisions.
Nice to have
Experience in the education sector, or in other highly regulated or rules-heavy domains (e.g., compliance, finance, healthcare, govtech).
Strong eye for quality, UX, and performance.
